Garry Frank in Ms. State Bulldogs H.O.F.!
Bringing this over from Powerliftingwatch. Congrats Garry! And thanks for all you do!
From Powerliftingwatch:
Garry Frank was recently inducted into the Mississippi State Bulldogs Sports Hall Of Fame at halftime ceremonies of their homecoming football game. Frank was the first to total 2500, 2600, 2700 and 2800+ pounds and has the highest masters bench press in powerlifting history (926 pounds).
Frank was a world class multi-sport athlete as well. He came to Mississippi State as a football player and shot put/discus thrower. Winning the NCAA national championships as a shot putter. He made the U.S. Olympic team but was not allowed to compete after playing in the Senior Bowl All-Star Game. Even though he did not accept the Senior Bowl pay check (the U.S. only sent amateurs then).
Frank entered school as a 260 pounds inside linebacker with 4.6 speed. As he grew bigger and bigger he moved to nose tackle and then to offensive line where he was drafted by the Denver Broncos.
He played in the NFL, European League, and Arena Football League during much of his earlier powerlifting career.
Frank is now President of the APF as well as being very active in high school powerlifting and football.
