What is the APF/WPC's stance on using water on the legs for the deadlift?

well, its not illegal let's put it that way......

I don't know if I see the advantage. I'd have to see how you apply it in person to see the benefit. Coincidentally, when my shins are a complete blood bath from ankle to knee the bar does seem to slide up the sloppy bloody mess a little easier....

Water and the DL

I spray it on with a spray bottle. Just enough to get the quads wet. It's not like it's adding 50 lbs, but it does work better than powder. I ask because it was allowed at a state meet this weekend for the first attempts, and then the meet promoter called for it to stop for the second and third attempts. Someone complained.

Check the rulebook--it is not allowed. Look on page 9, under the section on "Costume and Personal Equipment," number 11, point a:

"The use of oil, grease, or other lubricants and liquids on the body, costume or personal equipment to aid in the execution of a lift is not permitted."
